Hermes on a Tab5
Fifty-five seconds, phone camera, over a MacBook keyboard. First the back of an M5Stack Tab5 with the cover off: the ESP32-P4, the COM.X slot with a Cat-M and LoRaWAN module seated in it, the ExtPort header, the battery pack clipped underneath. Then the tablet turns over and the screen is a chat terminal.
The terminal is talking to a local model, not a cloud endpoint. It runs on the device in the frame, so nothing in that conversation leaves the table and there is no account behind it. The header reads persona Hermes, the bottom bar has the message archive, clear, and set controls, and the status line carries wifi, uptime, and battery. A finger on the glass and the conversation starts.
I keep building the same object at different scales. A chat surface on a phone is a product. The same surface on a board with a LoRa radio and a battery is an instrument you can leave somewhere.
