MERIDIAN formalizes the move this whole timeline is made of: VR to robotics, audio to cognition, electrical systems to software architecture. It provides a template for naming a cross-domain analogy and validating it before anyone builds on it.

The failure it guards against is the seductive one. An analogy that sounds right is cheap, and a year of work on an analogy that was only ever a turn of phrase is expensive. Writing the mapping down makes it checkable.
